Blokesworld weekend shut down

I was surprised when I saw the poster for Blokesworld Live. I was sure there was no way such an event would have been allowed to take place. Lo and behold I came across this article on yourtv.com.au

A female lobby group has claimed a victory for women's rights following the shutdown of Blokesworld Live in Brisbane on the weekend, reports The Courier Mail.

Members of Women's Forum Australia (WFA) gathered outside the RNS showgrounds to condemn the event, which was inspired by the late-night Network Ten program Blokesworld. The protestors claimed that the event was demeaning to women. WFA's Katrina George said the event "promoted a stereotype of women as recreational objects, always available for male entertainment and pleasure."

A representative of Brisbane City Council, however, said that an entertainment licence was not issued for the event because it did not meet public health and safety requirements and neighbouring residents did not receive enough warning about the event.

Blokesworld Live organisers intended to host the ultimate weekend for men, featuring lingerie pillow fighting championships, topless bullfighting, the Australian beer games and the Flirtmodel dancers.

Although exhibitors reportedly lost tens of thousands of dollars because of the closure, Blokesworld Live organisers promise the event will return bigger and better than before.

Blokesworld is a beer-swilling, ute-driving, big-on-breasts TV show, or to put it more politely, a men's lifestyle program. Hosts Knox and Ben-Wah delight their male audience with everything to do with the average Aussie bloke.

Blokesworld airs at 11.30pm Friday nights on Network Ten.

My god, an event that caters for men. How dare they. Those icky bad men. Don't they realise that sex is okay only for lesbians? Okay I exaggerate, some men are allowed to be sex objects for women. But under no circumstances are women to be dressed sexily and it be okay for men to look at them. It's not on. Don't you realise that women have been oppressed for 5 gazillion billion years? The Sun used to perve on Mother Earth, until the UN passed Stellar Harrasment legislation. And don't get me started on those sexist single cellular organisms. They were only after one thing.

I guess Sexpo is okay, because it has stuff for women.
I went there a couple of years ago. A single male. I was treated as some sort of pariah. I already hear you scoff at the idea.

Just witness the number of sex shops that cater primarily for women, and their advertising that implies any sex shop that doesn't focus only on women (and preferably lesbians) is filthy, perverted and depraved.

Particularly notice the use of "or to put it more politely...". Nowadays with all the male bashing going on, I cannot figure out whether the hosts themselves are parodying the language or the writer of the article is so full of anti-male venom they don't even try to appear impartial.
